The Humble Book
by Kathleen Green

Instructions:

1.   Create the drawer using the basic method described in the "Top Drawer" article in the current (Mar/Apr 05) issue of Altered Arts. The roof and base of the drawers were created by using the front and back covers. The handle was made by drilling holes in the drawer and threading gold wire and beads through the holes.

2.   Print the quote onto cardstock and tear the edges. Color with brown dye ink and a gold leafing pen.

3.   Arrange the quote and treasure items inside the drawer. Secure larger items with E6000 glue and smaller items with Crystal Lacquer. Apply extra Crystal Lacquer and sprinkle with Beadazzles.

4.   Cut mica tile into roughly the dimensions of the drawer and insert under the lip of the drawer tin. This creates an extra sense of dimension to the drawer.

5.   Insert the drawer into the drawer space and your altered drawer book is complete!

Quote reads: “There is more treasure in books than in all the pirate's loot on Treasure Island and best of all you can enjoy these riches every day of your life”
~Walt Disney
